VENDOR SPOTLIGHT
Children at weddings can be a sticky issue. From couples with blended families to weddings with younger members in the bridal party, the question of what to do with children at a reception is often either unanswered or not even addressed. Of late, those who serve the wedding industry have created a noteworthy response to this age-old question: wedding day babysitters. No, not sitter in your home while you are off at the wedding, but rather sitters at the wedding.
Serving New York, Philadelphia and Delaware, The Wedding Sitters--owned and operated by Rita Vitro and Laura Walker--provides wedding day sitting services for groups of 4 or more children. While parents are at the party, their children enjoy a tea party, snacks, movies and various crafts for entertainment.
The team has more than 30 years of service in childcare, is CPR and First Aid Certified and provides full references upon request. The service is also available for out of town guest at adult only weddings and receptions; they provide childcare at the hotel while parents attend the wedding. This service is not just for the bride and groom to arrange for their guests, the guests may also contract the service. Couples on limited budgets can include information about The Wedding Sitters as an option along with other wedding information on their wedding website or incorporated into the travel and lodging information sheets delivered prior to the wedding.

ENGAGING THOUGHTS...
From the editor's desk
Now that wedding season is officially over, we are going full speed ahead into what I refer to as engagement season. According to industry reports, more than a quarter of all proposals take place between now and Valentine's Day. So this Halloween, instead of saying trick-or-treatyour beloved just may be asking
will you marry me?As you prepare to go from
yesto
I docarefully scale the planning process.
Before you set a date, prior to posting your webpage on www.theknot.com, or even buying your first issue of Modern Bride, apply serious thought to your wedding. Think about what the most important aspect, other than your love for one another, will be. For those among you, who hold a greater value on some aspects of the wedding and reception; ask yourself some questions before you begin planning. Does location matter more than the time of year? Is there a photographer that you must have? Or are you willing to plan your day around the specific caterer with a well booked calendar?
Once you have determined what is a
mustand what is a
maybe, setting the date and full scale planning will be easier and less stressful. This simple exercise can mean the difference in having a winter wedding at a local reception hall and having a chic summer wedding a local downtown art museum.
Here's to your future!

POPPING THE QUESTION...
Answers to your most perplexing bridal dilemmasQ: I recently became engaged and planning is in full swing. Though my groom and I do plan to pay for the wedding ourselves, we need further clarification on who pays for other wedding related costs such as the engagement party, the shower and the rehearsal dinner.
A: Traditionally, the bride's parents incur the cost of the engagement party, while the groom's parents pay for the rehearsal dinner. Bridal showers and bachelor parties are the domain of the respective attendants.
